Council of Apostles and Prophets

The Council of Apostles and Prophets which serves as the principal body of the Church responsible for matters concerning Spiritual Guidance and Doctrinal Issues. 

The Council of Apostles and Prophets includes all Apostles (both active and retired) of the Church and all active Prophets.

             The functions of the Council of Apostles and Prophets shall include:

  • recommending policies for the Church in furtherance of the object of the Church as enshrined in Article Seven (7) of this Constitution;
  • providing Spiritual Guidance for the Church;
  • determining and interpreting Doctrinal Issues for the Church upon referral from The Executive or the General Council as the case may be;
  • identifying and making recommendations to the Ministerial Affairs Committee of the General Council, through The Executive, for Calls to

Ascension Ministry, including Calls to higher offices in the Church;

  • nominating the electable members of The Executive for the consideration of the Vetting Committee of the General Council;
  • receiving, examining, ratifying, approving and endorsing quarterly and annual, field and ministerial reports including memoranda sent to it by The Executive or any other relevant body of the Church; and
  • carrying out any other duty as may be assigned by the General Council.

 The Council of Apostles and Prophets holds one (1) Ordinary Meeting in a year. The date should be in March every year is determined and communicated by The Executive to the entire Church through a Circular.

All meetings of the Council of Apostles and Prophets are chaired byThe President.

However, where the exigencies of the time demand, emergency meetings are convened at the instance of the President or at least two-thirds (2/3) of the members of the Council of Apostles and Prophets signing a letter to that effect to the President.

The Council of Apostles and Prophets formulate standing orders to regulate its meetings and voting on matters are done by secret ballot, acclamation or show of hands
